Starting in October 2020 You Must Have A Real ID to Fly in the US

Are You Ready?

On October 1, 2020 you run the risk of being turned away from your US flight because of an outdated, but still valid driver’s license.

What is a Star or Real ID?

The most common form of Real ID is your state driver’s license. The Federal Government has put stricter guidelines on states and what they are allowed to accept as proof of identity in order to issue you a new Star ID driver’s license. These new licenses have a radio frequency identification chip (RFID) embedded to eliminate fraud.

If you have not updated your State Drivers License recently you may not be in compliance. Most compliant state licenses have a star in the upper right corner however, some states use other symbols, so check with your state if you are unsure.
